East of Eden - 1955

Loosely based on Nobel prize winner, John Steinbeck’s 1952 Novel, East of Eden. Directed by Elia Kazan, starring ourĀ Immortal Idol of the month, James Dean. Also starring Julie Harris, Raymond Massey and Burl Ives.

Inspired by the story of Cain and Abel, (“East of Eden” is the name of the biblical location, the land of NOD, where Cain was exiled.) yet relatable in our times as a story of human nature, good and evil, sibling rivalry and murderous jealousy. James Dean had a talent for emoting inner conflict, which was prominent in his role as Cal Trask.

This is one of the 3 most known films by Immortal Idol, James Dean. The only one he saw released.

This movie grows on you and stays with you. A must see for all James Dean fans! It’s one for the personal library.

Thanks to fandango and You Tube we have a little clip of the film:
